A few weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to share my home with thousands of people at the first Tiny House and Green Living Freedom Fest in New Paltz, NY. I was overcome with excitement to meet people who share my vision of living simply and finding happiness in the little things in life. Naturally, I was also a bit nervous about opening my home up to a bunch of strangers as well as sharing my story on stage in front of hundreds of people. That nervousness vanished almost immediately upon arriving at the fairgrounds.

The people that I met that weekend changed my life. They inspired me by their creativity, ingenuity, bravery, and desire to want a better life. Conversing with people about traveling, minimalism, living off the grid, being financially free, overcoming stress, and so on was by far my favorite part about the weekend. I made lifelong friends, some who lived within hours of me. I am so grateful for that.

Another amazing thing about the weekend was the amount of exposure that I gained through talking with people who connected with my journey. The fact that they were intrigued enough to share me, my house, and my story with their loved ones and on social media humbled me immensely. To anyone who has done that, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Special thanks to this girl for shouting me out on Snapchat hehe

I would really like to thank a special friend and mentor of mine who has been inspiring people to go tiny for years. Derek “Deek” Diedricksen and I got to spend some time chatting as he toured my tiny house. He is so knowledgeable on tiny living, building tiny structures, reusing materials, and just being a creative and innovative bad ass. Check Deek out on Facebook, Youtube, and on his blog. Below is the tour and interview we did together. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
